Airtel, India’s leading mobile service has announced two new and unique schemes for its post paid customers in Karnataka. mChek and One2one are SMS based services that match global standards, are completely customer centric and are designed to offer enhanced mobile experience coupled with greater convenience.

Announcing the launch of the new services, Mr. Venkatesh V, CEO, Mobile Services, Bharti Airtel Limited, Karnataka, said, “Our consistent focus on innovation has enabled us to connect with customers strongly and has made us the market leader. Easy to use and navigable friendly services like mChek and One2one are India’s firsts from Airtel. mChek the Anytime, Anywhere Bill Payment facility enables Airtel post paid customers in Karnataka to pay their mobile bills anytime, anywhere through a simple SMS procedure. This is an innovative solution that enables an Airtel post paid customer with a VISA credit card to make his/her bill payment through a simple SMS and receive an instant acknowledgment for the payment, thereby saving a lot of time and effort. The service works on ALL phones - there is no need of possessing a GPRS or EDGE device to make use of this service. mChek comes with in-built checks & validations to ensure completely secure & risk free transactions. It is convenient, useful and is absolutely free.

Customers can sign-up for the mChek service in two ways – either through the Internet or through their mobile phone in a matter of seconds. Subsequently customers can pay bills merely by sending an SMS and confirming the transaction with their mChekPIN.

mChek Registration Process:
To register for the service, an Airtel post paid customer needs to follow any one of the 2 processes mentioned below:

  Process I:
Register at www.mChek.com
1. Enter the Airtel mobile number
2. The customer will receive a temporary mChekPIN on his/her phone
3. Reset your mChekPIN
4. Enter his/her VISA Credit Card information
5. Enter his/her address – optional
6. Agree and accept the terms and conditions

Process II:
For registering through SMS -> Send MCHEK to 121
1. Enter details in an interactive session
2. Create his/her 4 digit numeric mChekPIN
3. Enter his/her 16 digit credit card number
4. Enter the Credit Card expiry date in MMYY format
5. Enter the last 3 digits of the CVV number (mentioned on the rear of the credit card)
6. Registration Complete

The entire registration process takes about 2-3 minutes.

Transaction Process:
 
Step 1: MPAY <Amount> to 121 - for example, if a customer wants to pay Rs. 500 to Airtel, he/she needs to type “MPAY 500”. He/she will receive a message as follows:

Rs: 500
Enter mChekPIN
Step 2: When prompted, the customer needs to enter his/her 4 digit mChekPIN
Step 3: Within a few seconds, he/she will receive a confirmation SMS stating that the credit card transaction has been processed successfully.
Customers need to type MPAY <Amount> (eg, MPAY 500) and then need to verify through the PIN created (Step 2: Registration process). Post which a customer will receive the RN (receipt number) & AC (Authorisation code) instantly and the payment is credited to Airtel billing system simultaneously.
To confirm the transaction, customers need to type ‘PAY’ and SMS to 121 to see that the payment has been successful.

mChek is a mobile payment platform that has been developed by mChek India Payment Systems, Pvt. Ltd, in close collaboration with VISA and is the first mobile payments solution that complies with the Payment Card Industry’s Data Security Standards (PCI/DSS). mChek allows users to link an existing phone and their existing VISA credit card issued by any Indian bank to their mobile phone. All transactions are secured by an mChekPIN that must be entered on the mobile phone in the course of the transaction.

Airtel One2one is a simple self service on Airtel Live! that allows customers to manage their account easily and conveniently. The services include information on billing, payments, bill plans, new services, complaint management etc. All menu transactions are completely free for the customer. In order to enjoy this service, customers need to visit the Airtel Live! link on their mobiles, click on “One2one” menu, download the one2one menu by clicking on “OK” and then ascertain the necessary information. Airtel One2one is another industry first from Airtel and is currently not available with any other operator in India.

Working procedure for One2one:
1. Customer opens the SIM based Airtel Live! menu.
2. Customer selects One2one menu within Airtel Live! menu.
3. Customer is able to view various options in the menu.
4. Selection of an option triggers outgoing SMS to 121.
5. Response message as per customer choice is sent as a return message.
