What is mChek?
 

mChek is an exciting new payment system that marries your credit card to your mobile phone, allowing you to make payments from your mobile phone.

What is the payment instrument used by mChek?
 

Currently any valid Visa / MasterCard Credit Card issued by any bank in India can be used with mChek. In future, mChek will also enable Debit Cards and other payment methods.

Where can I use mChek?
 

Today mChek can be used by Airtel users to pay post-paid bills, recharge pre-paid connections and on various ecommerce websites. Shortly we will be introducing a range of other utility billers, service providers and merchant payments.

How do I get mChek?
  mChek is initially only available for Airtel users. To get mChek simply SMS Mchek to 121 or visit www.mchek.com and follow the instructions received.

  No, you do not need any GPRS or EDGE service to use mChek.

  mChek will NEVER disclose your Credit Card information to anybody, including to you.

How will mChek transactions be reflected in my Credit Card statement?
  In your Credit Card statement, mChek transactions will be reflected as any other transaction. You can also send SMS “Mchek ms” to 121 to receive a mini statement of your last 3 transactions using mChek.

How do I ensure that my Credit Card is not used without my authorization?
 

Your Credit Card will never be used unless you authorize a transaction, from your registered mobile phone, with your mChekPIN.

Will I be charged for SMS communications?
  At this point, there is no charge for SMS's used in the course of an mChek transaction.

Is there any fee levied on mChek?
  At this point, there is no fee for using mChek.

What happens if I lose my mobile phone?
  You should call Airtel immediately to disable your phone. Additionally you should email [email protected] to inform them that your phone has been lost. Your mChek account will be immediately deactivated, after secondary verification.

What happens when I get a replacement mobile handset?
 

Your mChek account is linked to your mobile number. Hence, there will be no change in your mChek account on getting a mobile handset replacement.

What happens when I get a new mobile number?
  You should email [email protected] to inform them that your mobile number is changed. Your existing mChek account will be immediately deactivated, after secondary verification, following which you will have to re-register with mChek as a new user.

Can my Credit Card information be tampered with?
  mChek stores your Credit Card information in a Visa-certified secure data center. Under no circumstances can anyone access this information unless your password is authenticated and you prove that you are in possession of the registered mobile phone.

  Registering for mChek/Payment  
     
 
What is the registration process?
  To sign-up from your mobile phone:
1. Send SMS Mchek to 121
2. Create your new 6-digit mChekPIN
3. Register your Credit Card details

To sign-up on the mChek website at www.mchek.com:
1. Click on the "Sign Up" link
2. Enter your mobile number, receive a temporary PIN via SMS
3. Create your new 6-digit mChekPIN
4. Register your Credit Card details

The registration process takes 2-3 minutes, after which you will receive a confirmation SMS.

Is it safe for me to register online?
 

All pages in mChek's online registration process are protected by a Verisign SSL pages with 128-bit encryption of all data that you enter.

What happens if I lose connectivity during the registration process?
 

For security reasons, all your data will be erased and you will need to start the registration process all over again.

Can I set my own mChekPIN?
 

When you register with mChek, you will be required to select your own 6 digit mChekPIN. Please ensure the security of your mChek account by not sharing the mChekPIN with anyone and changing the same at periodic intervals.

How do I use mChek to pay my Airtel bill?
  To pay your Airtel post-paid bill from your mobile phone:
Step 1: Send SMS Mpay to 121.
mChek will retrieve your outstanding bill amount from Airtel and you will receive a message, as follows:
Pay: Airtel
Rs. 250
Enter mChekPIN
Step 2: Enter your mChekPIN to authorize the payment
Step 3: Within a few seconds, you will receive a transaction receipt via SMS.
Please note, to pay a specific amount against your Airtel bill, send SMS Mpay <amount> to 121.

To pay your Airtel post-paid bill from the mChek website at www.mchek.com:
Step 1: Click on “Click Here” in the Airtel Bill Pay / Recharge banner
mChek will retrieve your outstanding bill amount from Airtel and you will receive a message, as follows:
Step 2: Select “Pay PostPaid Bill”, enter your mobile number and click “Pay Now” button mChek will retrieve your outstanding bill amount from Airtel and you will receive a message, as follows:
Pay: Airtel
Rs. 250
Enter mChekPIN
Step 3: Enter your mChekPIN to authorize the payment
Step 4: Within a few seconds, you will receive a transaction receipt via SMS.
Please note, to pay a specific amount against your Airtel bill, enter the amount before clicking “Pay Now” button.

Can I use mChek to pay my friend’s / relative’s Airtel bill?
  Yes, you can use mChek to pay your friend’s / relative’s Airtel bill.

To pay Airtel bill on behalf of someone else
Step 1: Send SMS Mpay <Amount> <Mobile number> to 121.
For example, to pay Rs. 250 towards your friend’s post-paid bill, send SMS Mpay 250 9XXXXXXXXX to 121.
You will receive a message, as follows:
Pay: Airtel
Rs. 250
For: 9XXXXXXX
Enter mChekPIN
Step 2: Enter your mChekPIN to authorize the payment
Step 3: Within a few seconds, you will receive a transaction receipt via SMS. Your friend will also receive an acknowledgement of the payment by you.

What happens if I enter the wrong mChekPIN?
 

After 3 incorrect attempts, your account gets blocked and you will be prevented from further transactions. To unblock your account, please send SMS Mchek forgotpin to 121. For security reasons, you will be required to register your Credit Card details again.

Can I change my mChekPIN?
  To change your mChekPIN from your mobile phone:
1. Send SMS Mpin to 121
2. Enter your current mChekPIN
3. Create your new 6-digit mChekPIN
4. Re-confirm new mChekPIN

After successful validation, your mChekPIN is changed and you will receive a message "You have successfully changed your mChekPIN."

What if I forget my mChekPIN?
  Please send SMS Mchek forgotpin to 121 to reset your mChekPIN. For security reasons, you will be required to register the same Credit Card details again.

Can I register another Credit Card with mChek?
  For security reasons, you cannot register more than one Credit Card with your mChek account.

However, you can replace the current registered Credit Card with a new one. Please follow the steps below:
1. Send SMS Mchek changecard to 121
2. Enter your current mChekPIN
3. Register your new Credit Card details
4. Re-confirm with your mChekPIN

After successful validation, your new Credit Card is registered.

Can I register my Credit Card with another Mobile?
  For security reasons, you cannot register one Credit Card with more than one mChek accounts.

However, you can replace the current registered Credit Card with a new one. Please follow the steps below:
1. Send SMS Mchek changecard to 121
2. Enter your current mChekPIN
3. Register your new Credit Card details
4. Re-confirm with your mChekPIN

After successful validation, your new Credit Card is registered.

How can I unsubscribe from the mChek service?
  Send SMS Mchek unsubscribe or Stop mchek to 121 and your mChek account will be removed. You will be required to enter your mChekPIN to authorize this.
